Google recently announced about the new Google Products Reviews Update; in that post, we covered what Google said about it, but now it’s time to look at the result. It’s been a few days since the update went live, and those who have been affected are reporting that it’s as big as a core update if they’re affected.

If you’re not sure what this update is about, go back and read our original story; it should clarify everything and we’ve been updating it all day with new Google stuff.

This rollout, on the other hand, seemed to have hit the ground running. Google stated that it began rolling out on Thursday afternoon and that it might take up to two weeks to complete, but it appeared to start rolling out in a big way as early as Friday. As with some (but not all) past core changes, this is a fairly aggressive rollout (not that this is a core update).

This seems to have had the desired effect, triggering a shakeup in the product review category and it did appear to have a noticeable impact on partner websites with a lot of product reviews.
