Twitter users will now be able to soon sign up for newsletters by clicking a ‘Subscribe’ button on peoples’ profiles, that will allow users to quickly sign up for newsletters.

The distribution and signup process will be worked and facilitated by a newsletter publishing company, Revue, which the Twitter acquired back in January.

Revue broke the news by means of a series of tweets, expressing:
“We’re currently building new ways to grow your newsletter audience, and we want to preview one that will live right on your Twitter profile.
We want to give writers tools to turn their growing, engaged Twitter audience into newsletter subscribers. This will be available for Revue newsletters soon, so stay tuned. Now, back to work to keep building.“

Newsletters will be sent to the email address associated with the user’s Twitter account after signing up.

Revue shared an example of how the process works and functions.

The Subscribe button will show up on a user’s profile underneath the mutual follower’s section.

Twitter will display and show the name of the newsletter, a concise and brief description of what it contains, and how many subscribers it has.

After the ‘Subscribe’ button is hit, a notification appears, telling the user that their email address will be sent to the creator of the newsletter.

From this screen, users will have the option to read a sample issue before formally and officially handing over their information.

As the final step, the users will be asked to confirm their subscription by clicking a link in their email.

It would appear like a good design sign because it will help in preventing accidental signups.

The feature is reportedly rolling out in the following few weeks and will be available to anyone with a Revue account.

Availability

The publishers who have Revue newsletters will be able to activate this feature directly in Revue.

Taking into consideration, how publishers can offer paid newsletter subscriptions through Revue, this may be the first instance of users being able to monetize their Twitter profile.

Revue allows publishers to create paid or free newsletters, with Twitter taking a 5% cut of revenue procured through subscriptions.

Creating as well as distributing newsletters with Revue is generally free, which will create a new opportunity for marketers to build and fabricate mailing lists on Twitter.

Launch Date

A specific and exact date has not been announced for the launch of the Subscribe button. It’s supposed to be rolling out on Android and desktop first, and an iOS launch will follow at a later date.

With paid newsletters being a choice option, it may bode well to coordinate this feature with Twitter Blue as an additional perk.

Twitter Blue is a premium offering that gives users access to elite and exclusive features for a month-to month-charge. The service launched for the current month in a limited number of test nations.

This is only a thought and idea, yet adding a newsletter subscription to the package may help sweeten the deal.

Consider YouTube Premium as an instance. Among its rundown of advantages, is the ability to become a member of one channel at no extra charge.

Consider Amazon Prime as another example. Prime members can subscribe to one Twitch channel per month at no additional expense.

In each one of these cases, the content creators are compensated the same as they would be from any other paying subscriber.

Twitter could potentially do the same by combining Revue with Blue. It would add more value for premium members while assisting with boosting revenue for creators.

It’s likely too soon for Twitter to consider anything like that, notwithstanding. We’ll learn more when the Subscribe button launches in a few weeks.
