Decide which post you want to see based on your interests. Instagram’s New Trial Feature to Control Your Explore Feed
Scrolling through Instagram can sometimes be annoying because you have to see something that you didn’t want to see or come across something that is not of your interest.
What if you got to choose what you wanted to see on your Instagram account?
It will be a huge blessing for all Instagram users.
Recently, on August 30, 2022, Meta announced its launch of a new trial feature for Instagram users.

Today, we’re announcing that we’re testing two new ways to help you shape your Instagram experience. And we’re sharing a list of controls and methods that you can use to see more of what you want on your Instagram Feed.
We’re testing the ability to mark multiple posts in Explore as Not Interested. We’ll immediately hide those posts and refrain from showing you similar content in the future.
In this trial feature, Instagram users will be able to restrict the content that they don’t want to see on their Explore page.
Moreover, Instagram is also planning to soon roll out a new feature in which Instagrammers will be able to hide or restrict content that contain specific keywords, hashtags, emojis, or phrases. This feature will definitely give Instagram users a good scrolling experience.
How will it be Beneficial for Instagrammers? As well as Online Marketers?
With these features, Instagram aims to reduce the number of posts people see on their explore page, which will result in higher engagement on the platform and more benefits for general Instagram users and for users that market online.
For instance, before this feature, when someone scrolled through their explore page feed, Instagram recommended all types of posts and content, whether it was of their interest or not.
However, after rolling out this trial feature, Instagram will be able to remove all content that is not of users’ personal interests, and this way, they will enjoy using Instagram more.
So, how does this feature benefit online marketers?
It’s simple. When the user is able to see what they want to see, then marketers will be able to target only those people that are interested in that particular service or brand, increasing their marketing results as well as conversions.
Conclusion
According to Meta,
It’s important to us that people feel good about the time they spend on Instagram, so we’ll continue to work on ways to give people more control over what they see.
Meta implemented a number of tactics to improve the user experience on Instagram, such as: adjusting sensitive content control; snooze posts choices to temporarily snooze a certain sort of material; not interested tool for the content you view; favorites and following features to only see what you want to, and so on.
In the end, let’s see if Instagram confirms this new feature and updates it permanently for Instagram users.
