It will disapprove and remove any ad that interrupts users’ browsing experience. Google changing its policy in regards to any violating Ads

Recently, Google sent emails to advertisers that use the Google AdWords platform to advertise online, saying the advertiser needs to meet the destination requirements policy and change advertising methods on landing pages.

According to the email, their ad will be disapproved if the advertiser does not meet the destination requirements policy.

“In October 2022, the Destination requirements policy will be updated to include a new policy requiring ad experiences on destinations to conform to the Coalition for Better Ads’ Better Ads Standards. Destinations containing ad experiences that do not conform to the Better Ads Standards will be informed via the Ad Experience Report, and any ads that lead to such destinations will be disapproved.”

The Coalition for Better Ads is a standard for online advertising on different devices such as desktops, mobile web, short-form video, and mobile apps.

What Happens if You Violate Their Terms?

If you are running Google Ads, then violating their terms should be removed from your marketing strategy list.

Google strictly instructed advertisers that in October 2022, once the policy is updated, they will start their evaluation and disapprove any ad that is not meeting their demands.

Google is careful about visitors’ experiences while using its search engine platform.

They don’t want visitors to face annoying ads that are misleading and hamper their search experience.

What Kinds of Ads Should You Avoid?

In the words of Google,

“We want consumers to have a good experience when they click on an ad, so ad destinations must offer unique value to users and be functional, useful, and easy to navigate.”

So, any ad that is interrupting visitors’ browsing needs to be changed.

A few examples of violating ads include:

  • Ads that interfere with the ability to see a website’s content. Some websites even remove the back or close button of an ad unless some action is performed on it, which is violating.
  • Direct download buttons on an ad.
  • Misleading websites that open without visitors’ permission
  • Duplicate content without originality that directs visitors to the source to buy something.
  • Misleading links that indicate something but lead somewhere else.

Conclusion

Google is clear in terms of what it wants its advertisers to follow while using its platform. However, some users were still not complying with the rules and regulations of Google’s advertising policy. For this reason, it plans to take strict action against those who violate the terms by removing the ad or by suspending their account for further use.

It is advisable to evaluate and correct your ad campaigns before Google initiates any action.
