Google is recently testing a new section called “Research More” on its search results. This section shows articles related to the topic of your search query. This new section is currently visible to some users on both computers and mobile devices.
The new “Research More” section was spotted by Brodie Clark, a Google AdWords campaign management specialist, who shared a screenshot on X and SERP notes showing this new section on top of the search results for a query he made.
What does the New Section Show?
As seen in the shared screenshot, Clark made a Google search query for “men’s running shoes”. In response, the search engine shows the new “Research More” section with some recommended articles related to running shoes for men. This section appears on top of the organic search results.
Another X user from a Google Ads management services company shared a screenshot showing the mobile view of the new section for the same search query.
From SERP Alerts
SERP Alerts also posted on X about this new section. They mentioned that these new sections take up quite a bit of space on the search engine result pages. However, the Research More section can be collapsed to display a Reviews section from the web sub-heading.
More About the “Research More” Section
A forum discussion on X with several business owners, digital marketers, and Google AdWords campaign management experts helped us to know a bit more about the new section.
X users spotted that this section is not just for e-commerce products. It appears in search queries related to other things as well. General queries apart from searches made for products or services might also show this section, but it has not been spotted yet by any user.
According to the forum discussion, Google tested a similar feature in October which was named “List of Articles”. It looks like Google has simply renamed this section to “Research More” and started to test it again.
Why We Should Care?
Google is still testing this new section for the search result pages. However, it might soon be released publicly and will appear to every Google user. For businesses, advertisers, digital marketers, and companies offering Google Ads management services, this section could prove beneficial in terms of driving traffic and attracting new audiences.
In the near future, making their articles and blogs show up in this new section can become a significant part of SEO strategy for businesses to leverage its effectiveness.
