According to Jeffrey Jose of Google, the
Google Page Experience Update will affect desktop pages as well as mobile
webpages. He highlighted this in his Google I/O speech yesterday, Preparing for
page experience ranking.
According to him, “I’m excited to share
that page experience ranking is now available on desktop. While we’ll be
offering page experience on mobile soon, we believe it’s important for users to
have a good page experience regardless of how they browse the web this is why
we’re working hard to bring page experience ranking to desktop devices. We’ll
keep you informed about new material, documentation, and tools, as usual.”
So, starting in mid-June, Google will roll out
the Google Page Experience Update for mobile pages, followed by desktop pages at
a later date.
Again, I expect this to be a minor signal, but
it is critical to this upgrade.
